I am very fortunate to be invited to panel discussion with undergrads in engineering at the "Blueprints" Welcoming reception for new incoming freshman and transfer students at UH Manoa.
The four main points we were asked to answer include: 1) Please tell us your name, year, Engineering Emphasis, why you went into Engineering and your expected graduation date 2) Why did you chose UH Manoa College of Engineering 3) What has been a highlight of your experience thus far at the College of Engineering 4) What should students be prepared for their first semester here, helpful hints for the first semester? I find these panel discussions so helpful as I try to learn how to navigate and constellate myself on my journey as an indigenous, Native Hawaiian engineer and scientist. I appreciate to learn from the experiences of others on "how did they get there" to draw inspiration. In turn, I realize that it is a privilege to share my own story to others to lift them as we rise together as a community. |
